Carmella N. Imig, MD
|I was born and raised in rural Iowa. I moved to Omaha with a women’s basketball scholarship at Nebraska-Omaha. I attended medical school on an Air Force Health Professions Scholarship. After a year of surgery residency, I began active duty service in the United States Air Force and served as an emergency room physician at Maxwell AFB, Alabama and as a Flight Surgeon at Offutt AFB, Nebraska. Upon returning to civilian life, I completed my Family Practice training. After residency, I moved with my family to Gretna, Nebraska and opened my own family practice clinic – The Wellness Place, P.C. I have been very active in the community, serving as the former medical director at the local nursing home and as the current Gretna H.S. football sideline physician. I have coached my son’s teams in baseball and soccer and have been his Cub Scout Den Leader. I have also served on the Gretna Days Committee.
My special interests are in wellness and prevention. I have a special niche in thyroid and hormone health. I enjoy educating my patients to stay healthy to prevent diseases from occurring. This takes teamwork in working with my patients to achieve this. I take time to listen to my patient’s concerns and help them make informed choices for their healthcare. I also enjoy cooking from scratch and baking.
